FireHouse is a metal band that has had a lot of crossover success. Their self-titled 1990 debut sold over 2 million copies spawned the Top 10 song "Don't Treat Me Bad" and the Top 5 smash "Love Of A Lifetime". They also won an American Music Award in 1991 for favorite new hard rock/metal band.
FireHouse's sophomore release, Hold Your Fire was a Top 10 album and contained another Top 10 single, "When I Look Into Your Eyes". Their third album, 3, gave them their most surprising success. It was 1995, in the middle of the grunge explosion, and FireHouse was one of the few metal bands to have any success with the singles "I Live My Life For You" and "Here For You". The band has continued to record and perform around the world. They have had a lot of success in Asia in the past several years. Later this year FireHouse will release their 8th album, Prime Time. FireHouse recently performed here in Rapid City, SD along with Great White, Dokken and Quiet Riot. They put on a great show. Here's my interview with guitarist Bill Leverty, done a few days prior to the show: Chad Bowar: What's your set list like during the current tour? Bill Leverty: We play all the songs that people know us by and try to get in a song from each album, but that's sometimes tough if they only give us an hour set. We have 8 albums worth of material now, so there's so much to choose from. What has been the audience response so far? Awesome. We have so many people who are seeing us for the first time who come up to us after the set at the meet & greet and tell us that they loved it. What's your favorite song or songs to perform live? "Reach For The Sky". Who's your new bass player, and how did you find him? Dario Seixas: born in Brazil, currently living in Los Angeles. Robbie Crane of RATT told us about him. Now that you're older and have a family, is it tougher to go out on the road? Yes, absolutely. When I was single, the road was my home. Now it's a different story. I think that as you get older, your priorities change. I still love playing live, but being away from the family is tough. When is the new album being released, and what can fans expect soundwise? Sept in Japan, October on our website for the rest of the world. It's harder edged FireHouse than our previous albums, but we're still a melodic rock band.
