Listed below are QUICK TIPS that I am going to try to incorporate into my gardening schedule this season. I hope you find some of the tips helpful during the course of your gardening season.
TIP 1: To help you get organized purchase a cheap used golf cart on wheels to organize your garden tools in. When you are ready to move to another gardening area grab the handle of the golf cart and off you go with all your tools intact. TIP 2: I have read this tip in so many magazines, books and web sites that I promise to do it this season. Paint the handles of your gardening tools with a bright color of paint- orange, red etc. so that when the tool is laying in the grass or weeds you can quickly find the bright color of handle. TIP 3: For your patio furniture use the caps from plastic liter soda bottles as coasters. The caps fit nicely and can be replaced whenever you finish another bottle of pop. The caps help protect both furniture and the porch floor. TIP 4: A metal shoehorn works nicely as a miniature garden trowel. It's sized just right for transplanting seedlings. Also, it is just the correct size for the hands of my children when they help me in the garden. TIP 5; Here is another tip that I have promised myself to use in my gardens this year. Fill my wheelbarrow with plastic buckets to push around the gardens. I will fill one with weeds and faded flowers. Another bucket with diseased material or any trash found in my garden bed. If you don't use tip one --the golf cart, then, put in another bucket for hand tools, gloves and a water bottle. TIP 6; I do not have problems with deer in my gardens. For those of you that do try hanging car air fresheners on your favorite vegetables or plants. The odor will discourage deer from eating in your garden. TIP 7: I tell myself every spring that I am going to photograph my garden once a week. But I have yet to do that. This season I am going to aim to take pictures of it once a week in the spring and every two weeks in summer. I will date them and mount them in a photo album to help me determine what is blooming when and how color combinations look. It will also help me to keep track of any major planting and rearranging that I need to do in my garden beds. Go To Page: 1 2
