Spring Affair in the Midwest

Mark you calendar for April 23 and 24, 1999 for the Spring Affair at the State Fairgrounds in Lincoln, NE. Whether you live one mile away or one hundred miles from the fairgrounds you will not want to miss this exceptional event. It will be well worthwhile for you and your family.

Begin your celebrtation of spring in an English garden setting at Spring Affair's Preview Party. Hosted by the UNL Garden Friends, the Preview Party is Friday, April 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Plant Sale Plaza. Enjoy an elegant evening of causal conversation, fine food and the chance to leisurely pruchase your favorite plants. The evening will start with a delicious meal and beverage. After your meal, enjoy the chance to buy unusual and limited quantity plants in a relaxed atmosphere while a pianist plays for you. You will be given the opportunity to put a bid on one of the unique and useful garden gifts offered in the Silent Auction.

On Saturday, April 24, 1999 the Spring Affair plant sale committee works hard to make sure the best plant selection possible is offered. Like all gardeners, committee memebers each have their favorites resulting in discussions about which plants will be sold. The committee will have approximately two hundred variety of plants for sale. In keeping with the theme of old fashioned plants, this year's selections are plants with long garden histories.

Before or after your plant shoppping you will have a variety of programs and demonstrations by gardening experts exploring gardens of the past and how to recreate them. A few of the seminars which will be held on April 24th include the following; Something Old Something New, Gardening with Prairie Boxes and Second Empires, Elements for the Classic Garden and Rosemary for Remembrance.

Spring Affair in 1999 is an event you do not want to miss. It will be as exciting and informative as the 1998 Spring Affair was.
