Signs, signs, everywhere a sign, as the 70's song goes.
It is true though, everywhere you look there are signs and there are no exceptions in the gardening area.
Last spring and summer I wanted to print up sayings on either rocks, stones, weathered boards, new lumber, birdhouses, fences, gates or whatever but I never had the time to look for cute sayings to print on my signs. So, this winter I made myself sit down to brainstorm for sayings that I could use for my garden signs. I was able to come up with many ideas. Some that I like and other sayings that I don't care for but I thought I would include them all in my article so the wonderful readers at Suite101 can decide which sayings they would like to use in their gardens. I encourage each of you to add to my list this month. I will publish any new signs that people come up with in my March article. We will be able to bookmark this article so when you need a sign to add personality to your garden they will be easily accessible. I have tried to organize the sayings into catergories. Signs to add to your birdhouse: A friend for the birds, Feeding time, Birds of a feather flock together, Vacancy, Feed the birds, Calling all birds, For our feathered friends, Fly by night, Bed and breakfast, Strictly for the birds, Bird perch, The Wrens, Room for Wrent. Humorous Signs: Hop on inn, Take it E-Z, My garden is something to crow about, All my weeds, Short fences make good neighbors, Fairy tales do come true, Plant well-Water often-Weed much, Smile at the rain, Too much weeding- can make you croak, A green thumb is not required, Garden' of weeden', "It's not easy being green", said Kermit the Frog, Don't worry-Bee happy, Simply sweet on bees, Bee my friend, Thyme began in a garden. Signs to post with an angel theme: A garden is where the soul feels at home, A guardian angel in your garden watches over what you're plantin', Seeing is believeing, Angelical beauty, Don't pull weeds faster than your guardian angel can fly. Entrance signs for your garden: Welcome all, There's no place like my garden, Our garden gate doth open wide for all our friends to walk inside, Garden of sunshine, Welcome to my shed (to put on the front of your garden shed) Pond signs: Lead a frog to water, Hook a big one, Born to fish-Forced to pull weeds, An old fisherman lives here with the catch of his life, Gone fishin'.
