Tolerance Is ImportantTolerance is something I wish I had more control over. When I'm upset, my temper flares (due to a stressful circumstance I feel I'm unable to cope with) However, I need to find a calmness in order to resolve the problem. After the incident, I look back at my outburst and realize my anger didn't make the situation at hand any easier to deal with. Everyone is put to the test of tolerance everyday. How we're able to remain sane in a world full of insanity must come from an even higher source. We need to understand while we're fighting those small battles in life, we should be learning how to strive from the smaller battles, so we may easily fight through the bigger crisis. In the last few days, I fought a very large battle within myself to learn to tolerate an emergency occurrence. An enormous part of my job as an aide has grown since my roommate was diagnosed as a diabetic. This past Sunday, her sugar level of Blood registered extremely high. I felt it was important to call the Paramedics to check out her complaints. In a very short time, our one-bedroom apartment was the scene of several efficient men handling their jobs miraculously. By showing their professionalism, taking complete charge of the situation. I stood in the background waiting to find out if she was to be driven to the hospital by ambulance. It turned out their decision was to take her to the hospital. I asked if I may join them, since I don't drive or own a car. They allowed me to ride in front with the driver. After several hours the nurses in the ER allowed me to join Peggy, as I had been waiting in the ER Waiting Room up until then. After taking blood and urine samples and doing a CAT Scan of her abdomen, a few days later they called and let us know Peggy had an enlarged liver and a nodule on the left side of her chest. On Tuesday, we visited our regular Dr's office. His assistant put Peggy on insulin and eliminated one of her medicines she had been taking previously for her diabetes control. The Doctor (who was also diabetic) mentioned a class for diabetics. The next one is on Saturday (this one coming up) at 10:00 AM in our doctor's Pasadena office. We will be receiving a list of proper diet, a kit of needles and insulin for vacation use which doesn't need refrigeration. They also promised to answer all of our questions.
