PridePride is a powerful emotion. It moves obstacles which once seemed indestructible. Yet when your pride gets in the way, it becomes a duel edged sword. Hearing impairment has an impact on a human's pride. Your pride can take a severe beating. Stay calm and rid yourself of fear, so you'll be able to live a productive life. A little reconstruction will bring satisfaction. Hitch your star to believing in yourself. Don't concentrate on where your horse is in the race, instead focus on where your horse comes in at the end of the race. Never allow anyone to damper your spirits. If the wall around your pride becomes worn, then mend the damages. Just like a tooth rotting from tooth decay, you need to visit your dentist before your tooth is completely gone. I remember the pain and shame I once felt regarding my hearing impairment. All the pride regarding myself disappeared so quickly. I became clueless to where I should go to fix the situation. Once I regained the pride I had lost things began to fall into place. No dream appeared to be to big. I'm proud I got the fear to leave, so I could continue to go out and dream my dreams. Swallowing your pride is a hard thing to do. I regret on the occasions I have allowed pride to get in the way of apologizing or accepting apologies from the ones I love. In respect of the losses which have occurred since September 11, 2001, I decided I needed to communicate with my family. I wrote a letter to my older brother Mark, and his family. I expressed concern regarding their well being and said, I loved them. Last Thursday, as my roommate and I were leaving the Los Angeles, County fair in Pomona. We became stranded, when the last three buses never showed up. To our dismay the Taxi fare was a steep $35 to get to El Monte. We walked over to The Sheraton Suites, trying to find shelter, until the next bus would be leaving for home at 6:30 AM. They wouldn't give us a room (we only had $20 in cash) and bill us for the remainder. The nightime manager offered us the lobby as long as we didn't fall asleep. We asked for directions to the closest open restaurant (Denny's) and we were never able to find it. At the corner of Union and Holt (which is where we walked to from the Sheraton Suites. It took us over two hours to make it that far. Cold, scared and hungery (not to mention pissed and antagonized) we finally decided to call the Pomona Police Dept. after all their motto is "To Protect and Serve!" We told the dispatcher our situation, and then a police officer came by, and told us to wait there until the Sheriff arrived and he'd take us home. In less then 5 mins. the Sheriff arrived and we felt, safe, warm, cozy and happy to be on our way home.
