Standing TallAt some point in everyone's life we must all learn to stand tall. When we fight for the principles we believe in, we are taking a stand and making a difference in the world. At the same time we are building character. As I reshape my life (after the discovery of my hearing impairment) I found I did fit into the world around me. It was only then I was able to make a mark through my writings. I focused on being a winner rather than a loser. After all, winners don't grow on trees. As the saying goes: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Stick out your chin and accomplish your hearts desires. Replace all feelings of inadequacy and hold tight on a roller coaster ride of a lifetime. Take a stand, instead of throwing in the towel. Slay those evil dragons in your mind. You can reach the highest rafters and success will be yours! There's no trick in bringing down all of the obstacles we all face in our daily lives. In writing, it isn't how quickly you finish the task at hand. Your main concern should be on the quaility of the finished product. At the end of the day, we should understand, all of us are human beings with faults. Trying to do more then our share only wears us down. Hearing impairment only compels us to see our own frailities closer. Stand tall in the knowledge there are limits we all must come to grips with in our lives. Don't get wrapped up in seeing the things you haven't yet completed. When you do that, you only slow yourself down. Even as I was working on this article I had to understand Rome wasn't built in a day. A good foundation for any story takes time. It's the same in most of the things we do in our daily lives. Getting bogged down in keeping control does nothing good for our psyche. Having faith in the person we believe ourselves to be will contribute to any of our successes. Short comings need to be put in their place. Allowing a flaw to stay in command is never a wise thing to do. When you think about obtaining your goal focusing your eyes on the target, you'll manage to hit the bull's-eye more times than not. Now isn't that better then giving up the fight?
