Laughter Inspires ConfidenceConfidence is a big stumbling block to overcome in any chosen field. In my search to locate success as a writer, my hearing impairment has never silenced my need to be noticed. It is necessary for me to display my thoughts creatively, since this is the person I am deep down inside. When I allow my confidence to run the show, I am giving myself a chance to shine. My appearance isn't the drawback keeping me from my succeeding. I stop myself from obtaining success, when I sell myself short. The field of writing has some mighty fierce competition. The bookshelves aren't limited to only professional writers. It appears everyone is looking for their 15 mins. of fame. Conan O'Brien started his career as a comedy writer on a few television shows. He is now, a successful MC for his late night chat show. While watching an episode of Conan during his monologue, he made a reference to closed captioning for the hearing impaired and the deaf. While he was talking about one thing they actually closed captioned other things behind him which were quite funny, however, not what he was actually saying. Instead of the bit making fun of the hearing impaired it made fun of his boring monologue. Comedy is a helpful release from the rigors of being deaf or hearing impaired. Comedy generates from being able to laugh at yourself. Don't take yourself so seriously or you'll find yourself enjoying life less. The fact you're hearing impaired should never be the excuse you give yourself to take life so seriously. Differences can be the means to a happy ending. Comedians learn to laugh at the pain, early in life, in order to live a happier life. You too, should learn to turn the tables and the ability to laugh will help you perform wonders in a sometimes sad world. Instead of waiting for the other shoe to fall, use laughter as a buffer to help ease your pain. Orchestrate the expected conclusions and you may be in for a huge surprise. On Saturday night, at a local concert, in the audience was a very well known comic, who has indeed, turned his short comings into money in the bank. I happen to have a friend who pointed him out (to me) before he was actually introduced to the audience by the Concert performer. His appearance was slightly changed from the way he looks on his two television shows. Which made me uncertain of his true identity when my friend first brought his presence to my attention. As he was introduced by David Cassidy to us, in the audience, Drew Carey took a few bows and Cassidy joked with him at Drew's expense. It was then I realized for sure my friend had been correct all along, of course she didn't let me live this down.
