Quality Of LifeThe quality of your life depends entirely on you. Dwelling alone on the problems of your situation is not the solution. The pattern in your life can certainly change, when you seek the blessings which are yours to enjoy. Hearing impairment should never hinder the quality of your life. There are a multitude of possiblities open for you (the hearing impaired) when you're ready to accept your life for what it is. Rid yourself of becoming to self absorbed in your loss. You need to go out and explore the outside world. I spent my July 4th holiday with a couple of my friends, Peggy and Lauree, at Disneylands new expansion, called Downtown Disney. There were so many people already there at the park, when we arrived at around 3:00 PM. We walked around the Disneyland Hotel looking at the interior for awhile. Once we returned outside there was an area where they had an artificial waterfall, and you could almost hear the artificial crickets chirping in the background. A young girl with good hearing was coming around the corner covering her ears as she walked around the loud sound of the roaring waterfall. I knew this wouldn't be the case for me, as I enjoyed the cool refreshing splashing of the waterfall. I could not actually hear the noise that seemed to irritate the young lady. Our next stop was at the Rain Forest Cafe for a late lunch. Someone in a booth handed Peggy a ticket marked 4:05 PM we had approx. 20 mins. to wait to be seated. To pass the time we looked around the gift shop of Stuffed Animals, and various items. As we began eating our lunch, in the background behind us there was a rainstorm. Above us was the thunder and lightening among the moon and stars, in the sky. The rest of the day we spent walking in and out of many stores, as between the three of us we spent over $200. We also took time to rest from all the walking and shopping and sipped on our lemonades. One of the employees took a quick survey. When she was finished we were each given a Disney Mickey Mouse Sticker for our time. In addition, another employee wrote HI with a broom on the pavement in front of us, quite creative, don't you agree? Hearing impairment can make you feel disconnected from other people. Whether, on the phone or in person talking with friends, I often encounter symptoms, where I want to withdraw. During these times I find the best thing to do is realize, how temporary flashes of fear will soon fade away.
