Down For The CountHearing Impairment can make you feel like a fighter going down for the count. If you permit your handicap to knock you to the floor, the end result will be disastrous. Should we give up on obtaining great fortunes due to the hard knocks in our lives? No. Luck comes in different packages. It can be staring you in the face, waiting to be a part of your life. All you need is the right attitude to be in the winner's seat, and you'll receive all of lives glories at your feet. Into everyone's life a little rain will fall. My spirit had been lagging for a while, so my roommate and I, decided to get some R & R (rest and relaxation). The ace in the hole would be to travel to Laughlin, NV. On Monday May 21st, we hurried to the Greyhound Station in El Monte, CA. The bus arrived at the Riverside Casino in Laughlin, NV the next morning at 2:45 AM. After taking a taxi to our hotel Harrah's, we checked into our room. The weather the entire time we were there ranged from 109-135 degrees. We had an early breakfast Tues. gambled a bit, and went to sleep. The first concert we were going to see was on Wednesday, and then another on Thursday. They were both starring David Cassidy, at 8:00 PM. This time the sound equipment worked fine. On Thursday during the day we took a shuttle to the Regency Casino where the Riverside Casino was right next door. We walked around the Riverwalk and watched people on jet skis, and riding on the River taxi's going to other casino's in the area. On the last morning, Friday, we took the Shuttle to the Regency and walked to the Riverside Casino, to catch our bus back home. We ate at the Riverside Buffet. Peggy (my friend) put her last two quarters in a slot machine just outside the Buffet, and won $312. Our trip was then extended by one extra day. We stayed at the Flamingo Hilton, right next door to the Riverside Casino, where we bought tickets to see Bill Medley (of the Righteous Brothers) and his 14 year old daughter McKenna Medley. This was their opening night. The show was beyond belief. It was two hours of the best entertainment we've ever been to in a long, long time. McKenna's voice is strong and powerful, and her stage presence is as if she was born to be there. She's definitely born to be a star. Bill was (of course) a very proud father. With good reason to be. He too was an incredible performer, even though he's been performing for several decades with his partner, Bobby Hatfield, he can still belt out the songs with such feeling and vigor.
