Life's Circumstances

Life's circumstances can change our daily existance with an irregular beat. What was once so easily in our grasp can disappear in an instant. Then, it is wise for us to treasure the wonders we do possess, rather than to concentrate on the loss.

Legendary Dramatist and prolific Playwright, George Bernard Shaw, once advised: "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can't find them, they make them."

So just sitting around and crying the blues won't get you anywhere. Everyone feels like crawling into a hole at some point in their life. You have to rid yourself of all those negative emotions. You shouldn't blame anyone or anything for your life's circumstances.

Look around and you'll see others who are in worse situations. They are contributing to bettering the world. They aren't asking for pity. Neither should you!

It is easy to hid behind your hearing loss. Yet, all you are doing is finding a way to cop-out. Falling into that kind of non-sense will only cripple your way of thinking. Direct your energy in the right direction, so your hearing loss won't keep you from the good things in life.

What you need to do is face the issues. Life will be whatever you make out of it. You aren't kidding anyone, with the lame excuses. You know the truth. After all, everyone has lost something in their life.

Dwelling on the bad circumstances will only lead you to a lifetime of grief. Allowing your spirit to be free is the key to happiness. Keep reminding yourself instead of moping, you should be coping.

So, before you know it there will be a smile on your face. Things are never as bad as we believe them to be.

Recently, I found myself in a slump with my writing. My writing group was postponed for a week. The same week( due to events I had no control over) the same held true for my volunteering. I began to spiral down to a place I was just referring to in the above paragraph.

I changed the way I had been perceiving the situation. There are always going to be circumstances in our lives, where we have little or no control over. I wasn't any different than anyone else.

I had been using my hearing loss, as a crutch. I was ashamed of my own behavior. I snapped back to reality.
