Destiny

My destiny has compensated me many times over, so any downfall because of my hearing impairment is overlooked. Although, there are times, I may become disenchanted with my situation, it is with gratitude and strength, I keep on making all of my dreams come true. When I am really putting ALL of my efforts into my writing, I see the progress I have made- one step at a time.

While I was in Las Vegas, I received a phone message from a man who was starting a Writer's Group. I had placed my name and phone number on the board at the Pasadena City College Writer's Conference, I had attended there in March, 2001. The first meeting was held last Sunday on April 8th at 2:30 P.M.in Monrovia, California. They are going to have it every week at a different member's house.

Since my roommate, Peggy and her dad were in Mexico, I had to take the bus to the first meeting. I brought along some of my writing, so the others could critique my novel. A writer can always benefit from the opinion of other aspiring writers, so the writing will be even better.

I am glad I went to the Writer's Conference. If I hadn't, I would have nobody to blame but myself. You should never be afraid to take chances in your life. There are wonderful opportunities awaiting you when you allow yourself to forge ahead.

Destiny is something which guides you toward all of your dreams. My greatest dream to be a writer has been realized right here at Suite 101. Fear of success only made the road longer for me. I see that clearly now.

Another door has opened for me. Just this Friday afternoon, I went to buy my handicap sticker for my bus pass in Temple City's City Hall. I picked up an application to fill out to be a Volunteer at City Hall. The lady who sold me the sticker noticed I had an application and said" I see you have an application to help volunteer?" I said "I sure do." She (I later received her name, which was Karen) continued to explain the duties there were for the volunteers at the City Hall.

After she was finished, I said I am Hearing Impaired and asked if that would be a problem. She reassuredly replied it wouldn't be a problem, they welcomed the handicapped people as well. I asked about helping on the Newsletter. I told her about writing on the Internet and my articles at Suite 101.
