Taking Things For GrantedWhen I was growing up, I took a lot of things for granted. I suppose we all do at one time or another. Now that I'm an adult, I find my perspective on life has changed for the better. My hearing impairment came as a complete surprise to me. Since none of my siblings have hearing problems, the audiologist's diagnosis was something I had never expected to hear. We need to learn not to take things for granted. Good health doesn't always come easy. We must work at keeping ourselves healthy, strong, and in good spirits. Yet once we are told we have a health problem, we shouldn't allow the disease to control the way we look at our future. My hearing impairment (at one time) did reflect how I perceived my life. I allowed my hearing loss to control me. I became wrapped up in all of the adjustments, I believed I was going to have to make in my life. The news of my hearing loss made me feel as though I had been run over by a car. I have since learned to re-evaluate my options so I now see an improved direction in which to turn my life around. Taking for granted you'll always enjoy good health can be a big deception. Realistically you need to accept the changes your body may go through. After all, hearing impairment can be harder on your mind (at times) then on your ears. Once you've made up your mind to live your life to the best of your ability any obstacles in your way, you'll find easier to overcome. Every day of your life may offer limitless challenges even for the hearing impaired. Believing in yourself will get you through your loss, and past your embarassments, so you'll be able to buckle down and be a success. I find myself worrying before I even fulfill the task at hand, I wonder why I let my inner voice of doubt have so much control. If you allow the door to remain open for failure, it will surely come to pass. Don't take for granted you have all the time you need to succeed at your goal. In writing experiences when I have doubt in what I'm working on, I'm easily steered away. I find I allow myself to become distracted on purpose due to the fear and doubt. Don't allow circumstances which you hadn't planned on stop you from completing your goals. Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans - John Lennon
