Taking ControlLife never seems to be easy. When you reach a certain point in life, you realize it becomes necessary to make some changes. They need not be drastic changes, for just a few alterations will help you feel you have more control over your life. I began making my list of resolutions before the New Year started. I chose to set the wheels in motion at once. I set my sites on increasing my productivity in my writing. I noticed in the middle of the year that I had slacked off from last year's resolution. By this Christmas, I had finished making the payments on a new laptop. At first, I was intimidated when I prepared to read the books included with this new device. Things became clearer to me once I turned on my computer and read the book, as I wrote. Soon I was delighted, as I typed in the first draft of my story. I found the enthusiasm had returned with each day I wrote. I noticed sometimes I tend to bottle up anger and resentment towards the hearing. The pressure adds up on a daily basis, leaving me in a terrible state of mind. I'm not proud when I find myself having these feelings. I want to control the outbursts as much as possible. I know very well having anger and resentment towards others who are not hearing impaired is not healthy. I try to work on dealing with these negative, bottled up emotions. If I find I can't rid myself completely of these feelings, I try to at least keep them to a minimum. The world is indeed a noisy world. While I'm outside my apartment waiting at the corner to meet with a friend, there's heavy traffic, blasting music from the car radios passing by, and way too many other sounds to even try to list. I find the best things for me to remember regarding my hearing loss is: I have no control over my hearing impairments... what can you do when you're at the end of the rope? You ought to let the inner beauty you have within your soul shine through. When you allow yourself to appreciate how you are reacting to the world around you, a glorious you will emerge. Grasp and treasure those moments in your life. Let the warmth fill your whole body and all of your senses. After all, it's easy to let the occasion control your well being. I hope during this New Year, I'll be fair, to myself and others, as I blossom into the person I'm now trying to become. I've accomplished a little, a few steps at a time.
