Inner StrengthMy life has taken many twists and turns, which I believe has helped me to face obstacles by giving me greater inner strength. Luckily for me, there are more high periods in my life. Whenever I find myself at a low point, I can recall the high points and reuse them again and again. I deal with my Hearing Impairment on a daily basis. Yet sometimes I feel inadequate. This is when I look deep into my inner soul of my being. Otherwise, I know I would never have accomplished my many successes if I had allowed my Hearing Impairment to take control of my life. I feel I have grown spiritually in spite of the many lapses in my life. When I'm at a standstill and I'm unsure of the direction I should choose, I search spiritually for the answers. My writing helps me express those times, as well as the moments of achievement. My poems, my stories, and the other creative works bring to me an inner strength. When I'm not writing, my friends support me to give me inner strength. We get together, have some laughs, and express our thoughts to each other. Last Saturday, Peggy, Ruth, Rosa, and I went to Las Vegas, NV for the day. I wanted to visit Red Rocks for the first time. Red Rocks is a beautiful and scenic location in NV. We drove around thoughout Red Rocks, and parked the car and had a picnic. The wind was so terrific - it blew almost continuously. It was quite funny. Every so often we had to batten down the hatches (so to speak) so our food and drinks wouldn't blow down the road and accidently feed a burro, or mule. While we were in the car on our way to Red Rocks, we noticed signs posted about wild burros in the area. The signs warned people to not feed or harass the burros or mules, or you'd be fined $25. In addition, the signs warned the burros do BITE. Later that same evening, we stopped at the MGM Hotel and Casino. We visited with two other friends, Frank and Shaun. They are currently appearing in a Legends show in the Lounge. Shaun as John Lennon, and Frank as Paul McCartney. They also play Drums (Shaun) and Bass Guitar (Frank) in the back up portion of the show. After their first set, Shaun and Frank came and sat with us at our table. I gave each of them a Suite 101 business card. Neither one of them realized I have a hearing impairment. It was extremely hard to hear the conversation over the noises from the casino.
