Oklahoma Joy

As the time drew closer to the day when Peggy and I would be visiting our friends in Oklahoma, we were anticipating the joy we would be having all week long. On Tuesday, July 18th, our neighbor, (Mike) drove us to LAX, to catch our early flight.

Once we were in the Tulsa airport, we never saw Regina anywhere, so we walked over to Dollar Rental to pick-up our reserved car.

We had met Regina originally, at our 30th Monkees Anniversary Convention in 1997. Finally she showed up at the car rental location, and cheerfully said, "Hello."

Peggy completed signing the paperwork. Then drove Regina back to her parked car. We followed Regina back to her home, and met Joe, (her dog).

We talked for awhile, then had dinner at a nearby Chinese Buffet. At around Midnight we drove to Oklahoma City, to the Quality Inn North.

The following morning Peggy and I went to the Oklahoma City Zoo. We left early, due to the extreme heat. We found a familiar restaurant, Applebee's and enjoyed our beverages to cool us off.

After leaving the restaurant, we continued on our vacation to the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum. It was breathtaking to see the sculptures, oil, watercolor paintings, and charcoal etchings.

We returned to our motel and fell asleep, as soon as our heads hit our pillows.

On Thursday, we checked out of our motel and headed to Frontier City Six Flags. We ate corn dogs and funnel cake, (which we had been anticipating since we had begun our vacation) we left the park about 7:00 PM and met Regina at her job in Sapulpa. We bought Taco Bell for dinner.

Friday was the day we had left California for in the first place, the day of the concert with Davy Jones. We arrived about 2:00 PM and went to greet some more friends at the Merchandise table. We spoke with Susan and her son Adam.

We then had corn dogs and sodas and went on a few rides. At 7:00 PM we went to our seats. David was in high spirits the moment he appeared on stage. He joked about Oklahoma being so flat you could watch your dog run away for three days.

He compared (in jest) about the difference between Oklahoma Cowboys, and British Cowboys. How the names in America are real cowboy type names, like, John Wayne, Tex Ritter, compared to Britsh Cowboy names like, Malcolm, and Kevin.
