Enchanting EncounterHow do you know, if you're meant to go someplace and do something? I didn't have a clue, that I would be traveling this week to see a person who is very important in my life, David Jones. I came home from an interview I had been to Monday. I was quite tired and hot from the California sun. My roommate Peggy told me, she had seen some great information on http://www.davyjones.net an update. He would be in Northern California signing his new book "Davy Jones Daydream Believein' on Wednesday, April 26th. Only two days away, and no knowledge, of how we were going to get there. When Peggy talked to Paul, (a friend in Northern California) later that night, he was kind enough to make reservations at a local hotel in Hayward, CA. In addition, Paul also bought us our Greyhound tickets, so we would be able to make this trip. So the following night we headed to the El Monte Greyhound bus station, and continued to downtown Los Angeles, on our trip to Hayward, CA. During our hour layover, (in Los Angeles, CA) people of all types filled the depot making it one of the noisest places we've ever had to be, other then perhaps a concert hall. Announcements blarred over the extremely loud speakers thoughout the bus terminal, making it nearly impossible to understand much less, audible to comprehend. Our bus ride was so long we ended up riding all night and arrived the next morning at 9:30 on Wednesday, the day of the book signing. We grabbed a cup of Java (complimentary) at the hotel Paul had booked for us. We had decided to walk through Hayward, as our next door neighbor from our home area of Temple City, CA Mike Roberts had wired us some cash to Western Union. This turned out to be an adventure we had not been expecting. Through no fault of Mike's, we had to wait several hours and for another cashier to receive our expected money. The 3rd time, however, turned out to be the charm, thanks, to a gentleman (Montazuma) from the check cashing place. He lifted our spirits, went above and beyound the call of duty (on his part) and playfully tried to keep a sentimental pen Peggy had given him to use. At around 4:00 PM, our friends, and angels on earth (Paul and Lela) showed up to take us to San Ramon, to see our friend, David Jones, for his booksigning at the Enchanted Florist. David didn't see us (Peggy and Me) at first, the sun being in his eyes, making it very difficult for him to see further then directly in front of him, under the tent-like shade.
