For Every Dream There Is A SacrificeI was sitting on a bench waiting for the bus to come when I saw these words advertising a movie, on a passing bus. I thought to myself, how true those words are. In my writing, I have made sacrifices, such as time, that I have invested in order to become published. As another Birthday of mine passes, I can't help but reflect on this past year. I have accomplished the reality of being published here at Suite 101, Still there are lessons I have yet to learn. Patience has certainly been a virtue. You must project the success, then you'll find the success in your life. Glenn Devlin e-mailed me in regards to his love of writing. Glenn graduated from Galludet with degrees in English, and Computer Information Systems. Interested in joining a chat group, I suggested Delphi's Forum. Glenn has written his first Science Fiction Novel, "The Old Man From The Stars" he writes Screen Plays too. In addition, he's busy querying publishers. Writers learn that it takes time to gain success, from an early onset of their careers in writing. Wendy Jensen's novel, "Eighth House" was published in March of 2000. I was delighted when she told me the wonderful news. In the advancements I've seen in the writing field, It's my opinion the Internet helps to showcase an aspiring writers work. Since a number of people on the Internet everyday is staggering, it has become an invaluable tool for writers. I have discovered first hand, from my own experiences here (at Suite 101), that I"ve been able to reach people of all kinds, not limited to Hearing, Deaf, or Hearing Impaired, but each and every one. One of the reasons I enjoy writing, is to touch each and every person. For them to feel what I feel, and see and hear through my eyes and ears. My dreams haven't changed when I discovered I was Hearing Impaired. Writing is discouraging at times, yet, when discussing this subject with other writers, also trying to become published, I have found it to be a very common fear among all writers. Will we EVER become published? How many REJECTIONS can we withstand? Checking out the message board, of Delphi's Hard Of Hearing, I found a few poems written by a woman. Billie wrote these poems for her Hearing Impaired daughter Abbi. Asking Billie's permission to showcase a few here for you, Billie graciously told me she'd be honored for me to do so. Here for you now are a couple of her poems.
