Inspired By The Best

"Politically Incorrect" is one of my favorite late night shows. The Host of the show, Bill Maher, always has interesting people discussing current issues. Last week, one of his guests, was Marlee Matlin.

Marlee was seated across from her interpreter. During the half hour show, she held her own. She was witty and at ease amongst the other celebrities.

One of the topics was, whether we should add onto a television (and/or) movies....an aide closed captioning for the blind, and whether we as tax payers should pay for this device. Marlee agreed we should pay, and it's a no boner question.

Marlee was asked if she was able to listen to the radio. She replied, "Not being able to hear Howard Stern on the Radio, was no loss for her at all!"

Her film and TV career, has spanned beyond several decades. I believe her positive attitude, is the cause of her lasting success. How else can you explain how she's won an Academy Award, done so many commercials, and starred with Mark Harmon in her own TV series!

Another person who hasn't let their handicap get in the way of their success is Brian Wilson. In the Sixties, he wrote, performed, and created the sound of the Beach Boys. Brian lost his hearing when he was only nine years old.

His musical talents haven't diminished. He's currently performing as a solo artist, seen all across the country.

You shouldn't let disappointment keep you from reaching you own success', you may encounter many bumps and perhaps a few bruises, along the way. Still if you desire success, you'll find you're able to reach it, if you follow your dreams, and your hearts desires.

The old saying still holds true, "If at first you don't succeed try, try again." I, myself, have learned in my writing experiences, it's important to stick to it, ESPECIALLY, when you feel you're beginning to fail. Someday further down the road YOU WILL fulfill your dreams.

Believe in yourself, it will carry you through the trials and tribulations. Try to see yourself accomplishing your goals and dreams, and before long, you'll be surprised by your own successes.

A handicap shouldn't stop you from achieving your goal. Where would Marlee or Brian be, if they had let their handicap stop them?

Marlee wouldn't have been on "Politically Incorrect" with a group of her peers, talking about current events. Brian would have NEVER been heard at all. Can you imagine the world without, "Good Vibrations?"
