My Name Is Ladywrite

My name is Jill Smith, I go by the name Ladywrite. I'm 47 years old.

I wake up to my alarm clock ringing. It's time for me to head to my desk, I'm ready to write.

Today I begin by sending out a children't story, "Steve The Lovesick Answering Machine." I received this referral from Jeannie, who was in our Critique Group.

The website "Futures" is where I'm submitting this story. I wrote it when I entered a contest at Writer's Digest Magazine.

I leave my desk and go to the Kitchen for some coffee. Unless I'm right there it's difficult to hear the whistle blow. Usually one of my three cats, will start meowing to notify me that the whistle on the kettle is blowing. Then I laugh (at how cute and helpful they can be) and go turn off the burner.

When I'm back online, I check my messages. I need to add more information to my last submission. I cut and paste the additional information on the story, onto another e-mail. Then I re-submit it.

My story for Novel Advice is almost complete. The publisher offered some suggestions regarding the piece. When I'm offered advice or suggestions, I appreciate the time, and effort the editor took to assist me.

Talent is an asset, but it's not always enough. To make your writing better, you should be willing to listen, to all the advice given. I'm learning to be more patient, and take my time on my articles.

Preparation is an important tool in writing. Why hurry along? You'll just wind up having to start over, and re-write again.

Patience helps in writing. Follow the instructions or guidelines to the letter. When you do, you will hear the sound of success.

In the Lady's Home Journal the November issue, I found this quote by Arthur Ashe (A profound Tennis Player). "One most important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation"

Preparation is necessary to succeed in ALL aspects of life. What do you do when life throws you a curve? How do you prepare for the loss of your hearing?

It helps when you know people who are in the same situation. Who easily adjust to the problem without going off the deep end with self-pity. I know two such people, Leslie and Gary Mosley. They are a beautiful couple who live in Irvine, CA.

Gary has been Hearing Impaired since infancy. The love Leslie and Gary share is awesome. They have been an inspiration, showing me that love conquers all.
