Stress Reduction

Learning to deal with stress is another important aspect of healing your heart. Learning some form of relaxation is a must. There are many ways to go about this. Relaxation Training is one way to de-stress. Progressive Relaxation and the Relaxation Response are both very simple ways to learn how to deal with stress and anxiety. They also can change some parts of your personality. Type A behaviors can be modified with a serious commitment to learning how to relax.

Body/Mind Connection

Science has now accepted the fact that the mind and body are not two distinct entities that do not influence each other. The mind/body connection is well established even in most main stream science establishments. Studies have shown that relaxing the entire body and mind with some form of stress management is even more beneficial than exercise. One effective way of managing stress is by way of monitoring your irrational and upsetting thoughts and developing alternative interpretations of events. Anger management is also effective. Don't neglect to take the body/mind connection seriously. It is more important than exercise and medication.

Even keeping journals has been found very effective in maintaining health. Research has indicated that symptoms are reduced if people write about what bothers them on a consistent basis. Take care of the mind and it takes care of you.

It has also been found that having close family ties, pets and a solid religious faith are all natural healers. People who are well connected socially and maintain quality relationships are much less likely to suffer from heart or other degenerative diseases. Overcoming isolation and fostering close family and friendship ties can go a long way in overcoming the stresses of everyday life.

Natural Living

Living a simple and productive life can maintain your health into advanced ages. Don't get caught up in the fast paced life of modern society. Stay away from smoking and drinking. These are sure ways to premature death. Exercise, relax, eat a healthy diet, manage your emotions and use nutritional supplements to augment your diet. Stay close to your family. Buy a relaxation tape. Get a pet. Start keeping a journal. All these simple things can assure you a long and healthy life.
