Note: if you have any of the symptoms mentioned above its important that you see your health provider as soon as possible. It is also important to have regular medical exams that can catch the development of heart disease at an early stage. But there is much more you can do for yourself in preventing heart disease. Let’s take a look. Healing the Heart Naturally Luckily, there are numerous ways to prevent the onset of heart disease. Let's look at how you can prevent or help alleviate the disease if you already suffer from it. The basic approach to a healthy heart is good nutrition, reducing stress, and exercise. Nutrition: There are a wide variety of nutritional things you can do to protect yourself from heart disease or to help yourself heal your heart if you already suffer from it. Olive Oil: using olive oil in your diet is very heart healthy. As a part of the Mediterranean diet olive oil provides the crucial monounsaturated fats so important to heart health. It has been found that Italians, Greeks, the French eat much more fat than we do and suffer from much less heart disease. Switch to virgin olive oil as soon as possible. Fish: cold-water fish is especially important if you are serious about keeping your heart healthy. Salmon, mackerel, herring and halibut provide you with omega 3 fatty acids, in other words, fat. Dozens of studies indicate that fish oil lowers cholesterol and triglycerides and reduces systemic inflammation that has been found to be a cause of heart disease. Tea: both green and black, has been found to contain powerful flavonoids that prevent heart disease. These flavonoids are more powerful than vitamins C and E. Start drinking tea as often as possible each day. Beans: beans, especially soybeans have been found to lower cholesterol and blood fats. This makes them a good choice in establishing a heart healthy diet. Supplements: Vitamins and Minerals Vitamin C: this vitamin is essential to anyone wishing to live a healthy life. It not only has been found to be good for the heart but also helps prevent cancer and other serious disorders. Vitamin E: this antioxidant prevents the blood from clotting and becoming thick and adhering to artery walls. In this way, vitamin E prevents stokes and heart attacks. Vitamin E works even better when used with vitamin C. Bioflavonoids: quercetin is an especially powerful flavonoid that studies indicate can reduce the incidence of heart disease.
