Customizing your SkincareCustomizing your Skincare By Pamela Conoly Okay,so you’ve gotten the low down and all the information you can stand on the basics of taking care of your skin and the importance of being on a good regimen. Now let’s talk about those special little problems that the basic regimen can’t fix. First of all, let’s start with dry skin. Contrary to popular belief, dry skin needs nourishing at night just as much as any other type. The myth that the natural oils in your skin is enough to moisturize while you are asleep,as far as dry skin is concerned,is still a myth. There are night creams that are specially formulated for dry skin that will leave your skin rose petal soft upon waking,so much so that you will think your dry skin has disappeared overnight! However, you need to ask your beauty consultant or makeup counter associate as to which one is best for you. Wrinkle creams are not quite the same thing so be careful that you don’t make the mistake of getting something that is primarily for wrinkles and not necessarily over all dry skin. The ingredients are different. Oily and combination skin are no exception. There are also night creams that do the same thing, even though your skin is oily. They are formulated to control the amount of oil your skin secretes without clogging your pores so that you wake up with petal soft, not over oiled skin. Now more than ever it is important to cleanse your face in the morning especially if you use a night cream formulation. Around the eyes, sometimes,we all develop those little lines. These are not always caused by age. Sometimes they are caused by stress or the sun. There are certain products for this special problem. Besides the home remedies like Witch Hazel and cucumbers, there are gels that are easier to handle, store and take less time. Again, you need to consult you skincare professional for these products. Most of them are gels, feel very nice and are designed to refresh, reduce stress and lift your spirits. They do not get rid of anything that you naturally have. Just be sure that whatever extra little help you need that you ask questions and read labels. If you have a skin condition or are being treated by a Doctor with prescription medicine, that you consult that Doctor before talking to anyone else. Certain ingredients may react with certain prescribed drugs especially if they are prescribed by a Dermatologist.
