Correcting Concealers…How to use them and why.
By Pamela Conoly
Concealers are meant to hide and make flaws in our complexion
less noticable. They do not really make problems disappear totally.
When your makeup comes off the flaws in your complexion will
still be there.
Dark circles are a real problem for some. Most cases have to do with
allergies and some are hereditary. Unfortunately, some of us have darkness
under our eyes because of our family tree.
Concealers come in especially handy for this as well as allergy eyes.
Your eyes underneath sometimes swell from allergies and then goes
back down. This stretches the delicate area under the eyes, then causing
dark circles around allergy times. For some this happens in the Spring but
still for others in the Fall when leaves are on the ground.
Concealers are particularly helpful for this.
Apply the concealer before applying any other makeup. First thing, even before
foundation. You may have to experiment with several shades before
deciding on just the right one. Ultimately, the proper shade for you should
be just a little lighter than your foundation shade.
The reason you want it lighter is because if it is the same shade as your
foundation it may be darker and enhance your flaws rather than hide them.
So take your time experimenting,it’s worth the time and effort.
When it comes to blemishes it is a little more difficult to hide them.
All you can really do is try to make them less noticeable. But be aware if
you apply more in the attempt to conceal more this sometimes results
in drawing more attention to it rather than making it less noticeable.
Don’t despair! Little blemishes happen sometimes no matter what.
Just like changes in the weather.
There are also other hues and shades of concealers such as yellow, green and
so on. They may be called by such names as Harvest or Mint, etc.
Talk to your Beauty Consultant or your makeup counter Associate. They
should be able to help you with any of these things and show you how to apply
them. The different colors such as yellow and green are to accent the
pigments that are prominent in some skin.
We all have these pigments but in some people they are more prominent than
others. For instance, some who have an olive skin type might benefit from the
green or mint hue of concealer and some who have more of a prominent yellow
hue pigment, probably a fair, light skinned person would benefit from the yellow
hued concealer. There are a whole array of concealer shades for every skin tone
in between and otherwise. You just need to shop around and find the right one
