Dog Days Complexion

Dog Days Complexion By Pamela Conoly

If you live in Texas or near it you are probably experiencing the "Dog Days of Summer". This term is usually used to describe the boring month of August. But in the southern states it refers, not only to the bordom, but the smoldering heat that comes with the month of August. This also brings complexion problems. Heat brings about heat rash for some people. For what its worth, simply getting out of the sun is enough to make the rash go away. But for some this simple act isn't enough.A heat rash usually comes up in big wealts,as though you have been beaten with a switch and they sometimes itch severly.I have found from my own experience that Noxzema skin cream has a cooling medicated effect and takes the itch, wealts, etc, down quickly.Do not use alcohol or any kind of an astringent, as this tends to dry and make the itchiness worse. If you do use any kind of medicated cream be sure to read the product packaging to check for allergies. If you are taking antibiotics for an infection the medication in some creams can hinder the effects of the antibiotic. If your heat rash does not go away after you have been out of the heat or used a medicated cream, then check with your Doctor. It may be a severe allergic reaction even if you have never been bothered by such a thing before.Your body changes. Sometimes what never bothered you when you were a teenager might suddenly show up when your 25 yrs. So be careful in these “Dog Days of Summer” that you follow all heat advisories (particularly if you live in Texas)and pollution alert days especially if they are level orange or red. This means that the air quality is unhealthy if yout out for very long especially for children, anyone with severe allergies and the elderly. Even if you do not have allergies it is also bad for your complexion too. Dirt you can't see gets into your pores to cause the biggest zits you've ever seen! So watch it! If you've been outside in the heat or on a pollution alert day be sure to cleanse your face.Sometimes it is a good idea(if you can get away with it) not to wear foundation. Thats right,no foundation. Some women find this more comfortable in the last days of summer, just make up their eyes and wear a light moisturizer with spf 8 to protect from the sun. Usually you can find these kinds of moisturizers in your nieghborhood drug store or in your finer cosmetic counters,or you can always check with a Beauty Consultant.
