Pregnancy and Skincare By Pamela Conoly

Okay so your pregnant! As though you don’t have enough to deal with now you have added hormones which cause such skin problems as discoloration, rashes and a whole array of new and interesting skin phenomena. Well relax. In the first place it is important for your nerves and sanity that you realize that these skin things are mainly from the pregnancy and will go away. But for the time being they are with you so here are some helpful tips to help get through them. Since these skin problems can cause stress it is important, now more than ever,to clease properly everyday from head to toe. Your face ,however, sometimes has it’s own problems. This means, for example, your complexion will change. If you were dry you may be oily now and vise versa. So pay close attention to the changes and change your complexion regimen accordingly for the time being. It will also change again after the birth of your baby. As long as you are aware of the changes and act on them you probably won’t have much problem. Also follow all of your Doctor’s instructions. Too much of one thing like peanuts or other kinds of nuts can make your complexion too oily even if you are dry. Stretch marks can be a stressful problem. Creams and lotions are fine as long as you choose those that have vitamin E. This will certanly help especially after bathing. For skin discolorations ask your Doctor what to use first. Some skin lightening products may contain ingredients that you should not use during pregnancy. Be sure to read labels and warnings on all packaging. It is a law for all manufacturers at least in the US to list warnings on their products for pregnancy. Finally, rashes can be very annoying. Unless it is diagnosed as a disease, regular strength “Cortaid” or something of this nature has always been my Doctors choice. “Aveeno” Oatmeal baths ease itchiness and can be found just about anywhere. But be sure to cnsult Your own Doctor first. Every Doctor has their own preference so you should go with your Doctor’s choice. Congratulations! Hears to a beautiful and healthy baby! 
