HAIR CARE Be in the know!
By Pamela Conoly
So often, the state of our hair is one of the responsible factors that dictates how we feel. However, the “Bad hair day” syndrome is highly over rated. You do not have to have one of these days! Thus, a “Bad hair day” is only what you make of it. No, it is not just in your head(no pun intended). There are times, because of weather conditions and other, when your hair just won’t cooperate. Well, there are ways around this”Bad hair day” syndrome. Consider these solutions: 1.Proper cleansing- If your hair is oily, you need not use a shampoo with a conditioner. The conditioner will only enhance your oiliness. Also,do not use a shampoo that contains* balsam,or you will have the same problem. Using a conditioner or a balsam shampoo is necessary if your hair is dry or normal, but mostly dry. 2. After cleansing-If your hair is oily, all you need to do for your conditioning is brush your hair. You need not brush a hundred strokes. You will be able to feel your own natural oils coming through as you brush and work your scalp. But do not actually use a brush until your hair is dry or you will damage your hair. 3.Drying- Becareful not to over dry your hair.Even though your hair may be oily, over drying can be harmful and cause “frizzies”(split ends). If you use hot rollers, the best ones are the kind with the cushioned middle. What ever kind of hot rollers you use, remember, they don’t have to necessarily be scalding hot. In other words, you don’t have to wait until the signal light goes off or whatever indicates that they are ready. Unless,of course, you are using the misting kind. 4. Do not over wash your hair. If you shower twice a day you only need to wash your hair once a day. Pay close attention to what your shampoos and conditioners have in them. Know what kind of hair you have and only use products that are designed for your particular situation. These suggestions are in no way a cure all for problem hair or scalp. See your hairdresser and ask questions. If you have itchy scalp or extremely flaky scalp seek professional help. ***Shampoos that have the word *balsam right on the label are the ones that have too much balsam for oily hair. The shampoos and conditioners that only state in the ingredients that they have balsam are okay. The further down on the list that balsam is in the ingredients, the better. At any rate, always remember that the way you care for your hair,in the beginning, has a lot Go To Page: 1 2
