Water Water Everywhere

And not a drop to drink? That is how the saying goes. Yes, there is plenty of water to be found on this planet, but not all of it is available for us to drink. The problem for us as consumers, is to find water that is clean, safe, and healthy enough to drink.

We are so blessed in this country to have water to drink and the ability to choose the kind of water we want to put in our body. But there are many areas in this world where there are people who do not have this choice at all.

It is my opinion that this is one of the world's greatest tragedies. Water - clean, safe, and healthy, should be every person's birthright. Water is the essence of life. We need water to live and we need to drink plenty of water to be healthy.

Drink Water For Your Health

Most people do not drink enough water. I was such a person many years ago. I just did not like the taste of it. Oh, I thought that I was drinking all the water I needed, as long as I consumed it as tea with sugar and lemon or if it came in the form of coffee. But then one day I learned that this was not what the experts had in mind when they said to drink approximately 8 to 10 ounces of water 8 times a day! I finally learned how important water is to my health and now I drink it all the time. I am, however, very picky when it comes to the type of water I put into my body.

Many people live from day to day in a dehydrated state. Without drinking water each day, we could poison ourselves to death by our own waste products and toxins resulting from the body's constant state of metabolism. As a result from not drinking enough water, many people encounter such health problems as excess body fat, poor muscle tone and size, decreased digestive efficiency and organ dysfunction, increased toxicity in the body, joint and muscle soreness (especially after exercise), and water retention.

Water is also essential for breathing. The lungs must be moistened by water to facilitate oxygen intake and carbon dioxide excretion. Approximately one pint of liquid is lost each day from exhaling.

How important is water to your health? I could write book after book, enough to fill an entire library describing the various problems associated with not taking in enough water. But the bottom line is this - if we do not drink enough water to balance the fluid levels in our body, every body function could be in serious jeopardy.
