Part One In A Four-Part Series
Wow! Food! Delicious, glorious, wonderful food! What a wonderous variety to choose from - fresh vegetables, fruits, sea vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, soy products, and herbs. These are the nutritive substances that we should put into our body each day to keep it alive, to enable it to grow, and to stay healthy. Whether raw, fresh, steamed, boiled, baked, poached, or sauteed - you can eat all that you like of these foods and never need to worry about counting calories, or watching your fat intake. I think of food as God's pharmacy. Each day I use food as a weapon in my arsenal, to assist me in building up my body's health the natural way, so that I will be strong enough to fight off the diseases which attack my immune system. But try talking about food in a room full of people and you will find that each person will have a different connotation of what this life-sustaining substance means to them. Basically, we eat according to personal preference, habit or tradition, social pressure, immediate availability, convenience, economy, and nutritional value. Whatever the reasons may be why we eat the way we do, the majority of people today have not discovered the importance of integrating the use of proper food combining techniques into their daily lives. Is proper food combining important to our health? You be the judge. While the jury is still out, you might want to look at the number of books available on the subject of food combining found at Amazon.Com. Here you can do a keyword search by typing in the words food combining. I think you will be amazed to see just how many books have been written on this subject alone - I certainly was! I hope that the evidence contained within these books will convince you to render a verdict of yes - food combing is important!. Correct food combinations are important for proper digestion, utilization, and assimulation of the nutrients our body needs to sustain life. Different foods require different digestive enzymes to aid in the digestive process - some acid, some alkaline. When acids and alkalines come in contact, they neutralize each other and retard digestion. If the food we eat is not properly digested, it will pass through the intestinal tract without being completely broken down, getting stuck between the crevices located in the intestinal track - thereby causing the toxic wastes to ferment and putrefy. These toxic particles will then pass into the bloodstream where they can cause "allergic reactions" in the form of various health related problems. In addition, the undigested food particles become "food" for unhealthy bacteria to feed upon.
