A New Beginninglife, aggressive marketing tactics, our "food upbringing" and food likes and dislikes, changing to a healthier diet and lifestyle is not easy. Some people are able to make dramatic changes in their diet by the "cold-turkey" method, but for most of us, smaller steps are the best way to go. So where do we go from here? What can you do now to get started? First of all, slowly, (or quickly!) cut back on the consumption of soft drinks and sweets. Drink water or a natural fruit juice, or eat fruit. And remember, I said natural fruit juice - preferably not in cans or jars. There is a good reason for this which I will discuss in future articles. Next, try to buy fresh whole foods rather than canned foods. Cut back on your meat intake. Make one day, or at least one meal "meat free" and then work from that point forward. And then begin looking for resources which contain alternative recipes and start experimenting. In future articles I will include a few of my favorite recipes here for you to enjoy too. Now this next tip is very important - and that is to try to eat some raw fruits and vegetables every day. Make it a point to take some carrots or apples to work with you, or wherever you go during the day when you find yourself outside the home. I know that it does not sound like much, but it will get you started on the right track! And definitely find like-minded people, like me here at Suite 101, to help you get started. You will want the support! I hope that right now, today, this very moment, you will make the decision to start on A New Beginning - A New Life - and learn how to be healthier and how to act upon it. It took me sixteen long and unhealthy years after my diagnosis of cancer before I made this decision. I pray that it will not take you as long. I continue to enjoy the benefits of the decision which I made eleven years ago, to take this new road that I found through this journey called Life. It is a wonderful journey and I hope that you will join me. Please feel free to post your comments concerning this article by clicking on the link provided at the end of this
