Migraine is the most prevalent cause of chronic headaches in kids. A quarter of all people with migraines started having them before the age of 10! In children migraines usually don't involve an aura, and the throbbing pain is in the front on both sides rather than one-sided as is more normal in an adult.
The triptans, which are the current treatment of choice for many adult migraineurs, have been used effectively as a nasal spray for kids. With any treatment, enter into it cautiously since a lot of kids have very short migraines, even less than 2 hours, without any treatment at all. In other words, your child's headaches are just as unique as he is, so listen to his problems, consult the pediatrician who knows him well, and then figure out together how to treat his headaches.
