With the Aloha Week Royal court investiture ceremonies scheduled for August 25, 2000 at the Halemaumau Crater at Hawaii Volcanoes national park, preparations for yet another fabulous year of events and activities known for so many years as the Aloha Festivals.

Aloha Festivals is now over 50 years old it has certainly become not only a tradition but also a wonderful celebration of our Pacific, Asian and Western cultural influences. This year, the festival will be "He Makana O Na Lei Nani" or "A Gift of Beautiful Leis" and will not only highlight the beauty of the flower lei, but will feature the renewal of the Spirit of Aloha.

The main events attract large crowds. Admission to most of the festival events are free to all who purchase an Aloha Festivals ribbon. The cost of these ribbons are nominal and the events are truly stellar. The largest of the events are the Aloha Festivals floral Parade scheduled for September 16th and the Waikiki Hoolaulea which will be held along Kalakaua Avenue on September 22 begining st sunset.

Also this year, the Aloha Festivals will attempt to break their previous Guisness World Book hula dancers record at "Hawaii Hula 2000" on sunday September 17th at 6:00pm along Waikiki Beach. All hula dancers are encouraged to participate by calling 808-589-1771 or via e-mail at: alohafes@hula.net.
