Drive down to Ka'u on the Big island all the way to South Point or Ka Lae. This small town is famous because it is the southernmost point in the U.S. and also is believed to be the point where the first Polynesians made landfall in the islands. However, there is still more to see. Take a three-mile hike toward the ocean from South Point road where you will find an isolated cove named Mahana with the blue Pacific breaking onto the green sand shores. Yes, you are at the only green sand beach in Hawaii and maybe even the world.
