Hawaii's resorts have been focusing on fitness and relaxation for some time now, and the Spa Grande at the Grand Wailea on Maui is Hawaii's largest and most elaborate. The decor of this 50,000 square foot facility is more reminicient of Italy than of Maui. The interior is filled with soft colors, elaborate marble and gold accents. Subdued lighting and quiet luxurious surroundings lend to the atmosphere of privacy and seclusion. The Terme Wailea is the signature experience of this spa. Offered to all spa guests as a prelude to specialty treatments, the Terme is series or curcuit of hot, cold and room temperature international influenced water-oriented treatments which improve circulation, provide a sense of relaxation, cleanse the body and restore the overall level of energy and revitalization.
Beginning with a brief shower, you first spend some time in the Roman Tub (this is often referred to as the "Atrium Whirlpool", as it is situated beneath a dramatic three-story ceiling). Relax in a twenty foot whirlpool while jets of water heated to 105 degrees pour forth, stimulating the circulation and relaxing sore muscles. Then enjoy a Cool Plunge. This is especially invigorating following the warm treatment just received in the Roman tub. Steam Room or Sauna is your next stop, where your body can once again relax in your choice of either moist of dry heat. Guests are then escorted for a personalized Loofah Scrub. This cleansing, relaxation treatment consists of massaging your body with a mixture of water, salt and essential oil followed by a gentle soap-soaked loofah scrub to remove dead skin cells. The next step of the Termé is the Cascading Waterfall Shower. You are invited to sit in a private shower area as our indoor waterfall cascades down from a distance of aproximately 15 feet, naturally massaging your neck and shoulders. Built into the seat are special jets which will work the backs of your calves for that extra touch. The invigoration brought about by the cascading shower is tempered by your next experience in one of one of Spa Grande's specialty baths. TheTropical Enzyme Bath has a refreshingly pleasant fragrance and is especially beneficial for the skin, with softening and toning qualities achieved with our unique blend of citrus and green papaya enzymes. The Aromatherapy Specialty Bath features Spa Grande's "Rejuvenating" Aromatherapy oil which consists of essential oils of eucalyptus, lavender, fir, pine and rosemary, helping to rejuvenate, energize and balance the body. It is especially invigorating at the beginning of the day or for an afternoon lift. Excellent when experiencing low energy or jet lag; helps to balance both the mind and the body. The coolest of the Specialty Baths, the Mud Bath contains an organic, biomineral-vegetal mud from Canada. This bath is remineralizing for both the skin and body. It has an astringent effect, causing deep cleansing for the skin. Also, this bath is claimed to have an anti-inflammatory effect and is especially beneficial for soothing sunburn, mosquito bites and/or water retention.
