The Kona Village is a resort unlike any other in Hawaii. Unique in its pricing, amenities and features, this resort is not for those who crave the luxury of central air-conditioning, cable TV, video games and mega pools. The Kona Village is located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii on land that was formerly known as Kaupulehu to ancient Hawaiians. It's a few feet from the beach, where a natural spring dedicated to the Hawaiian God Kane pours into the ocean. Built long before its mega resort neighbors, the resort offers the Hawaii visitor an experience that is more traditional and serene than that of those newer glitzy hotels. Dress is casual at this resort. Beachwear with cover-ups are the uniform of the day, shirts with sleeves and collars are the male requirement, while what is suggested for ladies are slacks, skirts and blouses for the evening. There are no central air-conditioned rooms or long corridors. Guest accommodations include a choice of several different types of "hales" or single free standing thatched roof cottages that accommodate anywhere from three to nine guests. All rooms include a private lanai, miniature refrigerator (stocked with complimentary beverages and mixers), coffee maker, safe, and daily maid service. Balmy breezes and tropical ceiling fans cool each of the hale. Some feature private outdoor whirlpools to enjoy under a star-lit night. Bedding options include two twins, two doubles or one King with cribs, day beds and rollaway available.

Located on one of the few natural white sand beaches on the Big Island, the Kona Village has many activities to offer the weeklong visitor. Complimentary unlimited use of snorkels and masks, kayaks, sailboats and body boards. The protected beach is great for swimming, snorkeling and sailing. There is also volleyball every day and complimentary glass bottom boat tours every morning. Optional activities including deep-sea fishing charters, catamaran snorkel cruises, scuba lessons, dive excursions, horseback riding and helicopter tours can also be arranged through the Activities Desk.

For a more active approach, you'll enjoy two outdoor swimming pools with accompanying whirlpool spas, extensive jogging trails and tennis with lighted courts, clinics, lessons and tournaments. Kona Village Resort's Fitness Center features saunas, locker rooms, showers, outdoor and indoor massage rooms and popular exercise equipment such as stationary cycles, stair climbers and rowing machines. Fitness programs designed specifically for guests and draw upon the culture and spirit of historic Ka`upulehu.
