After the ravages of Hurricane Iniki, Kauai was brought to a virtual standstill. It has been seven years since that day in September, and Kauai, especially the Poipu is looking better than ever. The last vestige of hurricane destruction has been re-born and reopened as the new Sheraton Kauai.

Troubled with a long list of difficulties, the Sheraton Kauai has weathered the storm of insurance and civic disruptions and has finally opened to what will be remembered as Kauai's rebirth of beauty.

Now a 20-acre beachfront, full-service resort, the Sheraton Kauai will certainly be the rival of the nearby Hyatt. There are 413 guestrooms, including 14 suites that are arranged in three different locations and identified by the best views each grouping provides. This property offers a choice of views from tropical gardens and koi-filled ponds to the palm fringed, white-sand beach and the Pacific horizon with year-round golden sunsets. This resort has no building taller than a mature coconut tree, and is enveloped in tropical flora and fauna to accentuate the feeling of relaxation and seclusion.

A full service resort has a full complement of activities and services and facilities that include two swimming pools, massage and fitness center, tennis courts, a children's center, a host of beach activities plus equipment rental and instruction, a choice of championship golf courses, shops both in the hotel and the nearby Po'ipu Shopping Village to name a few.

Nearby activities abound on the island of Kauai. From the white sands of Poipu Beach to the rainforests of Hanalei, you will find recreation, beauty and natural scenery that is only found in Kauai. If you find yourself in the Princeville Area, stop by the Sheraton Princeville. Enjoy the facilities of this sister hotel on the north shore of Kauai. Golf, pool and other activities are included in your Sheraton Kauai room rate.

Bedding choices include two doubles or one King, with a majority of Ocean Rooms outfitted with a loveseat hide-a bed. Guestroom features include: air-conditioning, bath amenities, i.e. shampoo, conditioner, face & bath soaps, moisturizer, cable/color TV, coffee maker, coffee and cups, hair dryer, in-room movies, in-room safe, ironing board and iron, lanai, make-up mirror, mini refrigerator, radio Sony Play Station, telephone with data port, and Yukatas (robes).

Seven restaurants and two lounges top off this resort. Menus here range from buffets to Paniolo evening barbecues.

This resort also places an emphasis on weddings and other meetings and functions. They offer a variety of packages for the meeting planner and the bride to choose.
