Hotel Highlights – The Kahala Mandarin OrientalFormerly the Kahala Hilton, this luxurious property has been a gem of Hawaii for many years. While younger than the famous pink palace, the Royal Hawaiian or even the wonderfully refurbished Moana, the Kahala has always been known as luxurious and exclusive. Recently closed for over two years for extensive renovation, the Kahala now is brighter and more beautiful than ever before. Located 20 minutes by car from the Honolulu International Airport and only 10 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, this hotel sits on a site between a beautiful secluded crescent-shaped white sand beach and the world-famous Waialae Country Club. This hotel is located at the cul de sac of Kahala Avenue in Oahu's most prestigious residential area. It features lush tropical foliage, waterfalls and a 26,000-square-foot lagoon, home of bottlenosed dolphins, green sea turtles and many different types of tropical fish. There is a swimming pool and a children's wading pool to enjoy, as well as an exclusive shopping arcade in the lobby. Three hundred seventy-one newly renovated guestrooms include 33 suites, all with unobstructed breathtaking views of Kahala Beach, lagoons and/or golf course. All rooms offer 27" color cable remote controlled televisions, CD players. Guest bathrooms feature "his" and "hers" dressing areas, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryers and illuminated make-up mirrors. Aside from twenty-four-hour room service, the Kahala has three restaurants and three bars. Hoku's is open for lunch between 11:30a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and features Pacific Rim cuisine and an oyster and sushi bar. The more informal Plantation Beach Cafe offers breakfast, lunch, dinner wonderful buffets, continental and ethnic cuisine from 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. If all of this luxury and these amenities are not enough, this hotel is located within a mile of Kahala Shopping Center where great island shopping, dining and movies can be enjoyed. Expect luxury, peacefulness and relaxation at this wonderful property. It is certainly a bit of heaven on otherwise busy Oahu
