Maui Decisions

Planning a Maui vacation is full of decisions and one of the many decisions include where to stay on the Valley Isle. Since Maui has two main resort areas, it makes decisions more complicated. The oldest and the most popular of resort areas on Maui is the Kaanapali Resort area. Located on one of the most famous beaches in the world, Kaanapali boasts many high-end hotel complexes along with many wonderful condominium properties. Kaanapali is about an hour's drive from the Kahului airport, but the Kapalua airport is located just five minutes away. This airport is only open for operations during daylight hours and is the most convenient airport when staying in the West Maui area. You will find that Kaanapali is the best area for shopping and activities not to mention whale watching.

Also located on this end of the island are the town of Lahaina and the wonderful resort area of Kapalua. With world class golfing and resorts, Kapalua is definitely a great alternate choice to the more populated area of Kaanapali.

On the opposite end of Maui's south shore you will find another exclusive resort area called Wailea. This resort area is where you will find the most opulent resorts on the island such as the Grand Wailea and The Four Seasons. Wailea is just a 20-minute drive from Kahului, and is more centrally located to enjoy all that Maui has to offer.

Also located near Wailea, is the town of Kihei. If you are interested in budget hotels and condominium properties, this is the place to start searching. Lots of restaurants and beaches in this area make it a worthwhile destination for the budget conscious.

Although Maui has a reputation for world class hotels, it also has great selection of condominium properties that make it an excellent destination choice for families. Choosing a condominium over a hotel may be a better choice overall and definitely a better value for those who keep within the family budget.
