Rambaran Tops $1,000,000

Ton Of Diamonds upped his 2001 bankroll to $378,880 with the win, his eighth in 18 starts.

Daylon Trooper (Camluck) with Doug Brown led the majority of the race but had to settle for second, three-quarters of a length behind the winner. Tyler A (Camluck) was third in rein to Phil Hudon. Race favourite Youmustbekidding was fifth and qualified for the $131,267 final.

Ton Of Diamonds paid $6.90. The exactor returned $22.50, while the triactor brought back $195.60.

Robert Hamather's homebred N Xample (Camluck) captured the $28,129 second split as the post time favourite. Randall Waples was in the bike for trainer Shawn Robinson and gave the eight time winner a crafty steer.

"He's a funny horse," said Waples. "He puts in a big effort when he's up front so that's why I moved him when I did. He battles right to the wire."

N Xample got a late scare from runner-up DM Destiny (Albert Albert) and Baillargeon halfway down the stretch, but opened up to win by a length and a half in 1:534. The show spot went to Casimir AOK (Run The Table) and driver Phil Hudon.

N Xample upped his career earnings to $267,595 with the win and paid $3.70 to win. The CBC daily double of 7-6 paid $15.90.

A total of eight Canadian Breeders Championship Finals will be raced on Saturday, November 24, with $1,115,779 in purse money up for grabs. Post positions will be drawn on Tuesday, November 20.
