Monticello, NY --- When Billy "Zeke" Parker, Jr., Stephane Bouchard, Jeff Gregory and Mike Sorentino, Jr. travel to Monticello Raceway on Sunday, October 28th to compete in the second annual Clash in the Catskills, any, and all, monies they earn will be donated to the Twin Towers Fund.
The monies will help assist, support, and recognize the families of the members of the uniformed services of the New York City Fire Department and its Emergency Medical Service Command, the New York City Police Department, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the New York State Office of Court Administration and other government personnel who lost their lives or were injured because of the tragedies of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center in New York City. "We just received a call from Jeff Gregory informing us that the Yonkers team wants to donate their winnings in our driving competition on Sunday," said racing secretary Eric Warner. "What a wonderful gesture it is. Their generosity only adds another dimension to the contest that afternoon." The Clash In The Catskills is the second renewal of a driving contest pitting the top drivers at Yonkers Raceway against the leading reinsmen at Monticello Raceway. Twenty-five hundred dollars is up for grabs in the competition. Driving for the Mighty M team will be Bruce Aldrich, Jr. Greg Merton, Jimmy Devaux and Kyle DiBenedetto. At press time the Monticello team is not aware of the Yonkers drivers offering. Warner is hopeful of getting five or six races for the competition but he needs good cooperation from the local horsemen. "With the trainers knowing that money will be donated to the Twin Towers Fund should be an incentive to fill the contest races," Warner added. Go To Page: 1
