Mahogany (Episode 7)


hollering wind outside kept fighting to open the door and let me out to the I foolishly left behind.

I fasten up my coat and took my daughters hand and walked right passed Nate. His mouth felled open as I headed straight to the door, leading me to Harlem...


One day later...in Harlem, New York City...

Josuha looked at the force of the river currents as rain drops felled around him. Josuha rubbed the sharp rim of his dark gray hat as Josuha felt his heart filled of the dear memories of long ago. However, the taxi engine roared louder for him to leave now or it will leave without him. Josuha picked up his suitcase and walked to the taxi.

"Mr. Waters," a young girl said behind him. Josuha turned around as the dawn hours ended and the night came slowly across the skyline of Harlem.

"Yes," He said with a questionable tone of wondering what a young black little girl doing out this time of day. The beautiful black girl walked towards him with a fitted pink coat and a matching fur collar. She was carrying a small suitcase but walked with pose and grace as she approached Josuha.

"My name is Calita...Calita Sands."

Josuha eyes enlarged as the approaching moon above.

"Sands..."

"Mr. Waters, my mother is here to see you, so dontcha leave her cause' we came way from Paris to see ya."

I walked out from the shadows with my suitcase. I made it to where Jousha and Calita stood.

"Calita, I see you met your father. Jousha this is Calita your daughter. I'm so sorry for now coming to my senses and telling you that she was yours. Instead, out of fear of rejection when you toured the country and abroad, your career seemed to take off, so I didn't want to burden you or face my true connection and commitment to Nate. So, I ran away and ended up marrying Nate...for security."

He said nothing just looked at me and at Calita and then back at me again. His eyes appeared to be filling with the rains being poured from the skies above as the quietness between grew and grew.

"Calita go wait in the taxi, for a moment."

She ran with her suitcase to awaiting taxi. She sent me a smile before the door closed.

"Why didn't you tell me --" He started.

I immediately placed my white glove hand on his mouth.
