Langston Hughes: Poet Laureate of Harlem

Ain't got nobody but ma self.
I's gwine to quit my frownin'
And put ma troubles on the shelf.
Thump, thump, thump went his foot on the floor.
He played a few chords then he sang some more-
I got the Weary Blues

I gather foremost from this passage is a determination to take a firm stake in my destiny. I felt the music that Hughes must have been listening so intently made him to have a deep reflection attempting to shake the blues - but then again loving the experience of the rhythm just the same...the weary blues. Sometimes its down and out with blue days above and then the very experience is just what you need to play another tune of your emotions...

And so it is.
