If you do want to stick to the bar instead of the body wash, why not go all out and pamper yourself with a Zirh Body Bar (only $14.95)? Or you can also try Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap ($0.78), which has achieved an almost cult following for both men and women around the world. Both products are exceptional, and can be ordered online or through finer mail-order catalogs. Zirh products do tend to be a little pricey, but they are the gold standard as far as men's skincare and grooming is concerned.

Facial cleansing should be a priority for men, since it is the part of the body most often seen in the course of a day. Washing your face once a day is sufficient for most men, unless you work as a hog farmer or a coal miner...then you may need to wash a little more. But once a day is enough. Overwashing will strip the oils that protect your skin form environmental damage. The naturally occurring oils in the skin help keep moisture in and harmful radiation out. It may be a good idea to exfoliate every few weeks, to remove any dead skin cells from the surface. An accumulation of dead skin cells will make your skin look dull, dry, and aged. There are many products you can choose from, but I won't make any recommendations because it is best to choose a product suited for your own individual skin type. If you have sensitive skin, some exfoliators may cause a rash or irritation.

Blemishes are another area of concern. It is tempting to pop a pimple, but squeezing can spread bacteria and cause other pimples to form. It is also easy to scar the skin if you use your fingernails to pop a pimple. I've discovered the very best thing to do is to do nothing. Left unattended, a pimple has the average life span of about three days. If you mess around with it, you'll only make things worse. If an infection occurs, the condition will only be exacerbated, causing swelling and excessive redness to occur. Another common blemish is dark under-eye circles. This can be disguised by dabbing a small amount of concealer to the area and blending it in with your fingertip. If you don't know what concealer is, just ask your wife, I guarantee she'll have some.

The biggest part of a man's skincare regimen is shaving. It is a daily ritual for most, and oftentimes it is performed incorrectly. There is an art to shaving, an age old rite of passage passed down from fathers to sons. A mystical art performed by old men in barbershops who smather you in warm lather and deftly weild a razor with the precision of a surgeon.
