A: You need to start with a good shampoo, because the key to creating a work of art is all in how you prepare the canvas. In your case, I would use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove any buildup. Even the lightest holding hairspray can coat and weigh down fine hair. Clarifying shampoo will prevent any buildup from styling products, chlorine, or mineral deposits. I recommend Alternate Action shampoo, which is made by Matrix and is readily available in most salons. Unless your hair is damaged, avoid conditioners, because they will weigh down your hair.
