Living with ourselves with a little more awareness will bring us valuable self understand about whom we are.
Likewise it is important to uncover the negative side of who we are. This is not in order to find fault with ourselves but rather to understand where our weak points are. This way we know what we are to be extra careful about and guard ourselves from mishaps and negative outcomes. We find in the “Maharal” and other classic works an important thought about our negative individual drives each of us have. If a person notices within themselves an especially strong pull to a certain negative desire or trait that is a sign that it is that which they need to fix and improve upon. That is a sign post to self-knowledge not only of our inner being but more so. It guides us in our path to our life’s purpose. It is a message that it is on that point I must work to improve as part of my lives mission.
If we can start keeping notes of our self-findings we can turn daily lives as an adventure to discover ourselves. Even from what we perceive as negative experiences can be transformed into a self-fact finding mission into deeper understandings of our inner selves and how we work. Waiting on line in the bank can open up within feelings that we can learn from and having a tough experience at work will shed another fact for our self knowledge to add to our personal log of self discovery.
This can be a start for a new self-insights as well as a higher quality of life. I will be glad to hear any comments.

We started to discuss the importance of self-knowledge about ourselves. What are we looking for? How are we to do this? I think I know my self what more is there to know?
These are some of the important questions many of us might be thinking in regards to self-knowledge.
The famous “Mashgiach” spiritual leader of the Mirer yeshiva before World War II Rav Yerucham of blessed memory said the following in regards to this.
“If we do not recognize our negative traits that is not good but if we do not recognize our good traits “Oy Vevoy” woe is to him. Why is that?
