This took place about 2,300 years ago. That was when Persia was the main ruling power of the world, and it was the only time in History when whole Jewish nation was under the rule of one monarch. The wicked Haman, like all the anti-Semites throughout history, wanted to destroy the Jewish nation. Hitler (may his name be eradicated) started to do what Haman only was able to plan. Through a series of what looked like one coincident and good fortune after another our nation was saved and our opponents were destroyed. During that time, Haman rose to be the second to the King of Persia. He decreed that on the 13 of the month of Adar all the people throughout Persia were to kill every Jewish man, women and child and plunder their possessions. Through a series of events, as described in the book of Esther, the tables were turned and Haman and his ten sons were hanged. The Jewish nation was then allowed to avenge themselves from their enemies. True, some did assimilate and have gone lost, but there are millions who have not. There is no other nation that has survived as a nation in exile other than our nation. This has been called the greatest of all the miracles regarding our nation. How was this accomplished? The answer is that this is the lesson we learn in the Megillah of Esther. G-d is with our nation, guiding and leading us from exile to exile, guarding over us to keep us as a nation.
