The first link that I added to my Greyhound site was "A Breed Apart". ABAP(A Breed Apart) is the first and only (that I know of )on-line magazine about Greyhounds. The editor and creator, Bruce Skinner, started ABAP a little over three years ago. The first issue debuted June 1995. The premier issue had articles on tick fever, lure coursing, the color chart of Greyhounds, and the first "from the editor" feature.
Bruce and his wife Christina live in Massachusetts, and they have one greyhound, Saigon T--called "T" for short. In June of '96, the second year began. The first year was an enormous success. Included in the June 1996 issue was the "Roo Page". Rooing is Greyhound singing! You can actually hear this spectacular sound when reading this article! June 1997 marked the beginning of the third year of ABAP. This issue contained articles on Greyhound racing in other countries--Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, and England. One of the most remarkable things about ABAP, in my opinion, is the amount of information in current and past issues. Anytime I need to research something related to Greyhounds, I know I can start my search in ABAP. For past issues and other miscellaneous facts, the reference section would be used. This department has a listing of most Greyhound adoption agencies that are on-line. All past issues can be accessed from here. There is another department called Dig Deep which allows you to search for any subject you need. I have used this many times in writing articles for Suite 101. Greyhound collectibles and other items for sale can be found by using the department Goodies. You can keep up with Greyhound events by using the Pack Activities feature. Greyhound adoptions, memorials, and other Greyhound announcements can be found at Keepin'Track. Forums is the place to take part in discussions about many things. One of the newest features in the forum section is instructions on building your own home page. This is fast becoming one of the most popular features of ABAP. For quick and easy access to Greyhound owners personal pages click here. Also found at ABAP is a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem. This is a beautiful poem giving one explanation of where our pets go when their life on earth is finished. The newest issue of ABAP is now on-line. Please visit this awesome site. You will not regret it!! Go To Page: 1 2
