Chapter 10, As a Companion

Greyhounds have been characterized by many roles in their 8,000-year history: they have been coursing dogs, hunting dogs, dogs of war and racers. In addition to these professional roles, Greyhounds have been affectionate, loyal companions. It is the role of companion that is quickly becoming the newest role of these magnificent dogs. To quote Cynthia, "For many owners of former racers, adopting a Greyhound is just the beginning. Greyhound Fever, as I've come to call it, is an insidious disease and, before most people know they have caught, it's too late to do anything about it. But if you ask anyone infected, they will tell you it's the best thing that's ever happened to them."

The remainder of this chapter has many delightful stories of Greyhounds and the homes they bless. Please read, enjoy, and learn about the most magnificent of dogs, the Greyhound.
