Good News?
On the other side, a Renewable Energy bills was proposed on the senate. It did fail with flying colors. The vote count was 70-29. Where are our leaders heads? I know….in the pockets of the large electric utility companies who ardently opposed this bill. On another note, here are some little things that you can do in your everyday life to help promote what you really believe in (or at least I hope you do). Checks: You know those checks you write for all your bills every month? There are options out there to do away with paper entirely and pay your bills on-line. Many people aren’t comfortable with the security and don’t want that type of access. So what else can you do to support your causes? Next time you need an refill on your checks, don’t got to your bank or credit union, click on line and look-up Check Gallery. They have a great low cost introductory offer and all of their checks are printed on recycled paper. Do you want to do even more? Try Message Products. There’s at least 40 organizations affiliated with this company that you will be donating your money to and getting the word out at the same time. Phone Service: Sure there’s lots of companies out there paying a ton on advertising to bombard you with commercials every five minutes but some companies don’t have that kind of money because they donate a percent of their profits to other Non-Profit organizations. Check out these phone companies: Working Assets is a great company that donates to a wide variety of groups, sends your phone bill on recycled paper and has action items on each phone bill. They also have an Action Alert service that notifies you when a quick response is needed on an urgent issue. All this and more, plus their rates aren’t too bad. They have service plans for those phone-a-holic’s. Recently added…cellular service, in some areas. Hey if you sign up they’ll send you a pint of ice cream every month.
