Don't try them all. Just do one of them. The benefits are as follows:
Never put a piece of paper down
What this means: If it needs to be answered and sent back, do so immediately. If it needs to be filed and kept, do so now. If only one side is used, put it in a box for use as rough paper. If it is rubbish, put it in a box for recycling.
How it saves the environment: Your paper will already be collected, so all of it will be recycled and none of it missed. You will be reusing some of it too, rather than buying new paper.
How it will save your sanity You will always know where your paperwork is. You will never wonder whether you sent of the wretched form or not. Your house will not be cluttered with paperwork.
Walk to the local shops
What this means: If you are just popping out to get one or two items, walk round to the local shops. (Obviously, if you are miles from nowhere this might prove a problem.) Do not take the car or drive to the nearest town.
How it saves the environment: The shorter the journey by car, the worse the pollution. In making these short journeys by foot you will be making a real difference. Also, because there are many more short journeys than long ones, this soon mounts up.
How it will save your sanity: Very often the stress people feel is because they are cooped up in a building and not getting enough fresh air or exercise. This simple practice will give you both and you will soon see an inprovement in both your fitness and your temperament.
One in, one out
What this means:Whenever you get a new item, give away an old one. So, if you get to fiction books for Christmas, give two of your older books to someone else. If you have a new suit, give away some of your older clothes. One in, one out....
